Remember The Matrix Movie? Maybe You Should Take The Red Pill?

“I want to be weird, I don’t want to be normal!”  That’s what my son insisted when I picked him up from Sunday School last week.  What he had learned that day was that a normal kid swears, argues, thinks family time is lame, and insists their way is correct.  On the other hand, weird kids help others, listen to their parents, spend time with their family and follow God.  Needless to say, I was very proud of my “weird” little man!  It takes strength to go against what everyone else says is normal.  Take a look at the fitness industry.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read on Facebook that someone’s idiotic trainer killed them today, instead of helping to improve them.   Open up Muscle and Fiction and read about this month’s great arm or chest blaster that guarantees to add several inches to your upper body, instead of improving your deadlift.  Women can find internet articles touting the magic tone and sculpting benefits of pink dumbbells, countless crunches and a calorie deficient diet, instead of making them stronger.  It’s all a load of crap!  Unfortunately, people want to fit in and be normal, they don’t want to hear The Truth.  Hell, most don’t even want to exercise! 

Do you remember the movie, “The Matrix”?  In the first Matrix movie Neo thinks he may have stumbled onto something big.  Eventually he meets with Morpheus and learns there is indeed a Matrix, a world that people think is normal.  The Matrix of the fitness world consists of magazines, bodypart split training programs, steroids, and unfortunately most college fitness professors with their periodization programs.  Morpheus states, “The Matrix is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.”  In 2010, at my RKC certification, I heard Senior RKC Zar Horton refer to kettlebells as “The Truth”.  Kettlebells will single handedly change your life and open up an enitirely new world for you.  As Morpheus states, “No one can be told what the matrix is, you have to experience it for yourself.”  The kettlebell subculture has been around since the mid 1700’s, it’s not a fad, I can’t tell you about it, you really need to experience the misery and magic for yourself.  You need to watch this clip;


I’ve seen and heard many responses from people after sampling fitness the Russian Kettlebell way.  People have said to me they’ve always been told that locking your joints was bad for you.  They always thought planks were easy until they try it the way we teach it.  Once an instructor at another facility questioned why her lats were so fatigued after relearning overhead presses.  It’s an amazing experience when someone learns a proper press technique and sees an instant improvement in strength.  Or when they first plank the correct way and can only last 15 seconds as opposed to their normal saggy back 2 minutes!  These people have only scratched the surface of the Alice In Wonderland rabbit hole!  Like Neo, now they know there’s another way and mainstream fitness media has lead them in the wrong direction.  Bad trainers and magazines want you to believe machines and mind numbing cardio and countless sets and reps are the best way to go.  Today’s matrix of fitness experts have done an amazing job of creating weak sissified pansies.  Russian kettlebell training offers The Truth.  People will think you’re weird.  I want to be weird!

One more analogy…  Today men are supposed to go out at night, drink Scotch, spend time away from their families, and win at all costs…normal?  Blue pill?  I argue, you show me a man that chooses to spend time with his wife and children, fight for them, and kneel before the Father, and I’ll show you a real man.  A man that has taken the red pill!  What about your fitness program?  Are you buying into the mainstream wellness answer and doing the machines?  Riding the elliptical?  Training chest on Monday?  How far down the rabbit hole are you willing to go to find the truth and stop spinning your wheels?  Will you take the red pill?  Russian kettlebell training…Be weird, Discover the Truth and Be a Man.  I’ll meet you on the other side.
